Burundi has a population of circa 7 250 000 inhabitants who live across an area of 27 834 km (UNFPA). 48 % of the inhabitants are younger then 15 year and the average life span is 47.6 years.

After the first cases of AIDS appeared in Burundi since 1983, the disease has continued its progression. The former authorities did not take the appropriate measures to put an end to the spread of the disease.

Nouvelle Espérance is an independent humanitarian and medical organization. Our goal is to give financial, material and moral support to AIDS-patients and their relatives. This way we hope to create them a decent existence and better opportunities for personal development.

Our independence is assured by voluntary donations. This helps us to operate fast and efficient.
